A skilled Nurse Practitioner is sought to join a Level II Newborn Nursery team within a community-based hospital setting. This role offers the opportunity to practice at the top of licensure while partnering closely with pediatricians and experienced nursing staff to deliver high-quality, compassionate care from birth through discharge.
Position Highlights
* 7-on / 7-off schedule utilizing a 24-hour shift model, providing predictable time off and excellent work-life balance
* Inpatient, hospital-based role focused on newborn care
* Daily responsibilities include:
* Newborn rounds and physical assessments
* Management of “feeder and grower” care plans
* Discharge planning and family education
* Level II nursery scope, supporting infants down to 32 weeks gestation
* Facility equipped for short-term stabilization using positive pressure ventilation (RAM cannula)
* Attendance at high-risk deliveries and Cesarean sections (approximately 85 per year) to assist with neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
* Active participation in newborn quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based best practices
Qualifications
* Master’s degree or Doctorate (DNP) in Nursing from an accredited institution
* National board certification as:
* Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (preferred)
* Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner with strong Level II nursery or NICU experience will be considered
* Eligible for or holding an unrestricted Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse license
* Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
* Experience with neonatal stabilization and delivery room management
* Strong commitment to compassionate, family-centered care in a rural or community healthcare environment

* Compensation range: $140,000 – $150,000, based on experience and qualifications
