Job description APP - Pediatric opening in IL Full time Freeport, IL A skilled Nurse Practitioner is sought to join a Level II Newborn Nursery team within a community-based hospital setting. This role offers the opportunity to practice at the top of licensure while partnering closely with pediatricians and experienced nursing staff to deliver high-quality, compassionate care from birth through discharge. Position Highlights * 7-on / 7-off schedule utilizing a 24-hour shift model, providing predictable time off and excellent work-life balance * Inpatient, hospital-based role focused on newborn care * Daily responsibilities include: * Newborn rounds and physical assessments * Management of “feeder and grower” care plans * Discharge planning and family education * Level II nursery scope, supporting infants down to 32 weeks gestation * Facility equipped for short-term stabilization using positive pressure ventilation (RAM cannula) * Attendance at high-risk deliveries and Cesarean sections (approximately 85 per year) to assist with neonatal resuscitation and stabilization * Active participation in newborn quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based best practices Qualifications * Master’s degree or Doctorate (DNP) in Nursing from an accredited institution * National board certification as: * Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (preferred) * Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner with strong Level II nursery or NICU experience will be considered * Eligible for or holding an unrestricted Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse license * Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required * Experience with neonatal stabilization and delivery room management * Strong commitment to compassionate, family-centered care in a rural or community healthcare environment Compensation & Benefits * Compensation range: $140,000 – $150,000, based on experience and qualifications * Productivity and quality bonus with two-year income guarantee * Paid malpractice insurance * Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available * Comprehensive benefits package including: * Medical, dental, and vision insurance * Paid time off * Retirement plans (403(b) and 457(b)) * Short- and long-term disability insurance * Life insurance * Professional development support with CME allowance and dedicated CME days Practice Network * Community-based rural healthcare network with a 120+ year history of serving patients across northwest Illinois, southwest Wisconsin, and eastern Iowa * Central hospital hub located in a regional community of approximately 25,000 residents, supported by a network of outpatient family healthcare clinics across multiple counties Community Overview Northwest Illinois offers a welcoming blend of Midwestern hospitality, cultural richness, and outdoor recreation: * Family-friendly environment with excellent schools, parks, and recreational facilities * Rich historical heritage with nationally significant landmarks and museums * Active arts and cultural scene including galleries, museums, and live theater * Abundant outdoor opportunities at nearby state parks featuring hiking, camping, boating, fishing, and kayaking * Convenient proximity to major metro areas: * Just over two hours to Chicago and Milwaukee * Approximately one hour to Madison, Wisconsin * Less than one hour to Rockford, Illinois
