Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider
Location: Austin, TX
Setting: Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
Employment Type: Full-Time, permanent position
Position Overview
In collaboration with patients and families, and in partnership with the care team across all disciplines, this role provides direct clinical care to pediatric patients within the provider’s clinical specialty under the supervision and responsibility of a physician.
Primary Responsibilities
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
• Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and disorders
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments
• Provide patient and family education regarding care plans and follow-up
• Lead and collaborate with clinical team members during patient care
• Document patient history and clinical findings in the electronic health record
• Report communicable disease and required data to state agencies
• Promote and support high standards of medical practice
• Maintain knowledge of current clinical guidelines and best practices
• Work within credentialed scope of practice
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong relationship-building and customer service skills
• Ability to manage complex or sensitive patient interactions
• Clinical competence in pediatric medicine
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and urgent situations
• Proficiency with computers and electronic health records
• Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements
• Experience in FQHC and/or patient-centered medical home preferred
• Experience in integrated care environments preferred

Minimum Education
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program OR
• Master’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing
Required Licensure & Certifications
• Unrestricted Texas license as a Physician Assistant OR Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
• Current certification in clinical specialty
• Current DEA registration
• Current CPR certification (American Heart Association)
• Current Basic Life Support (AHA)
Preferred Experience
• Pediatric clinical experience
• Prior FQHC or community health experience
• Knowledge of Joint Commission standards
