Pediatric Acute Care APP Night Shift Opportunity | Dayton, Ohio

Shriners Children’s Ohio is hiring a full time night shift Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a highly specialized inpatient team. This role supports both critical and non critical pediatric patients within a nationally respected pediatric healthcare system focused on burns, orthopedics, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and complex subspecialty care.

Facility and Location
Shriners Children’s Ohio partners closely with Dayton Children’s Hospital, a free standing children’s hospital and Level I pediatric trauma center. The program functions as a true hospital within a hospital model, offering strong resources, immediate specialty access, and a collaborative environment.

Located in Dayton, Ohio, the area offers a family friendly lifestyle with easy access to outdoor recreation, cultural events, and a lower cost of living compared to many major metro areas.

Role Overview
This position covers night and weekend inpatient care for admitted pediatric and young adult patients across both critical and non critical levels of care. Average nightly census ranges from 2 to 5 patients with approximately 1 to 2 new admissions overnight. You will manage fluids, antibiotics, pain and sedation, vasopressor support, and initial stabilization for patients in shock or respiratory distress.

You will have 24 seven access to a Pediatric Intensivist for backup, along with Trauma and Critical Care Burn Surgeons. Collaboration with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams is central to this role.

Requirements
Nurse Practitioners must hold Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification CPNP AC through the PNCB.
Physician Assistants must have a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and current NCCPA certification.
Applicants should be comfortable managing hospitalized pediatric patients and working independently overnight with strong physician support available.

Compensation and Benefits
Competitive compensation and a strong benefits package are offered, including the opportunity for up to a four percent annual merit increase based on performance.

If you are looking to step into a high trust, well supported pediatric acute care role with meaningful autonomy, this is worth a conversation.
