A hospital laboratory in Georgetown, South Carolina is seeking an experienced Pathology Assistant (PA) to support surgical pathology services.
The Pathology Assistant will be responsible for gross examination and processing of surgical specimens, assisting pathologists in preparing tissues for histologic evaluation. The role requires strong knowledge of specimen handling, pathology lab protocols, and grossing procedures.
Providers should be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment and completing the daily specimen caseload within the scheduled shift.

Job Responsibilities
• Accurately document specimen descriptions and findings
• Prepare tissue samples for histologic processing
• Ensure proper specimen handling and labeling according to laboratory protocols
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff for diagnostic preparation
• Maintain compliance with laboratory quality and safety standards
• Ensure completion of daily specimen caseload prior to end of shift
• Assist with laboratory workflow to maintain efficient specimen processing
Qualifications
• Experience in surgical pathology grossing procedures
• Strong understanding of laboratory specimen handling protocols
• Ability to work efficiently in a hospital laboratory setting
• Experience supporting surgical pathology services preferred
• Ability to credential at multiple affiliated healthcare systems if needed
Working Hours
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Lunch: 1 hour unpaid
Call: No call required
Assignment Duration: Ongoing coverage until full-time hire and for vacation coverage as needed
