Pathology Assistant Job Details

- Hours per Week: 40
- Shifts per Week: 5
- Shift Duration: 8 Hour Day Shifts
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,700 - $2,970
Pathology Assistant Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience as a Pathology Assistant in a hospital or clinical laboratory
- Expertise in specimen accessioning, labeling, and grossing
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Commitment to laboratory safety, compliance, and hospital policies
Pathology Assistant Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accession records and ensure proper specimen labeling and fixation
- Perform grossing and detailed dissections for surgical pathology specimens
- Enhance laboratory efficiency through effective workflow coordination
- Verify specimen receipt and integrity; collaborate with clerical and medical staff
- Conduct quality audits and maintain a clean, sterile laboratory environment
- Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment
- Support staffing needs across all shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Communicate professionally with medical staff, hospital personnel, and supervisors
- Comply with all hospital and laboratory safety requirements and healthcare regulations
- Contribute to departmental improvements and perform additional duties as assigned
