Required Skills:
- ASCP Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant (PA) required; no equivalents accepted
- Strong knowledge of histology, laboratory instrumentation, HIS and LIS systems
- Ability to perform gross dissection and specimen collection with accuracy and care
- Excellent organizational skills, judgment, and initiative
- Capable of working independently, managing time effectively, and maintaining focus under stress
- Flexibility to adapt to emergency situations, including working additional hours or shifts
- Attention to detail in specimen labeling and documentation
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working in a hospital or large laboratory setting
- Familiarity with latest laboratory technology and automation
- Prior experience with postmortem examinations
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Certified ASCP Pathologists' Assistant
- Previous experience in surgical pathology and autopsies
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently over extended periods
Other Requirements:
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as Berkshire Health System does not consider local travelers
- Ability to provide verified time-off requests; maximum of 5 days of RTO accepted
- Ability to work in accordance with hospital and laboratory safety standards
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
