In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation, gross description, and dissection of surgical pathology specimens, as well as performing postmortem examinations under the medical direction of licensed pathologists. Required Skills:
- Valid (PA) ASCP certification; equivalent certifications are not accepted
- Strong knowledge of Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation appropriate to the scope of pathology laboratory work
- Excellent organizational and specimen-handling skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in scheduling and planning work
- Attention to detail in specimen collection, labeling, and documentation
- Capable of working efficiently and accurately for extended periods, including under stress or emergency situations
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with postmortem examinations
- Familiarity with advanced laboratory technology and current healthcare software platforms
- Prior experience in a hospital pathology or surgical laboratory setting
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Postsecondary training or certification in histotechnology, cytotechnology, or related laboratory fields
- Previous experience as a Pathology Assistant or related role in a clinical or hospital environment
Other Requirements:
- Must demonstrate flexible and adaptable work habits, including willingness to work additional hours or shifts as needed
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical capability to handle specimen dissection and postmortem procedures
- No travel required within 50 miles of the facility to avoid delays in processing; please include your permanent address upon profile upload
- Please note any requested time off during the assignment, with a maximum of 5 days (less preferred), to ensure proper scheduling
