We are seeking a motivated Temp - Laboratory - Pathology Assistant to support our laboratory operations, ensuring accurate specimen handling and supporting diagnostic excellence. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, describe, and dissect surgical pathology specimens with precision and care.
- Perform postmortem examinations under the supervision of licensed pathologists.
- Accurately collect, label, and handle specimens to ensure integrity and traceability.
- Utilize laboratory information systems (HIS and LIS) and instrumentation in accordance with current technology.
- Exercise independent judgment in scheduling, organizing, and prioritizing workload, especially during high-pressure situations.
- Comply with hospital and laboratory protocols related to specimen processing and safety.
Required Skills:
- Valid (PA) ASCP certification is mandatory; equivalent certifications are not accepted.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen collection, and pathology protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, initiative, and flexibility.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems, HIS, and LIS.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately over extended periods, including in emergency or stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills and teamwork mindset.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with advanced laboratory instrumentation.
- Prior experience in a hospital or pathology laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of postmortem examination procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) with relevant clinical experience.
- Prior experience in surgical pathology specimen handling and gross dissection.
Other Requirements:
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible.
- Ability to work scheduled hours, with flexibility for additional shifts if required.
- Willingness to adhere to specific time-off policies, including limited RTO requests.
- Knowledge of specimen safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Hourly Pay Rate: $71.02
