Seeking a Pain Management Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pain Management Team in Beloit, Wisconsin and Roscoe, Illinois
Overview:
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is a skilled member of the health team who provides medical and educational services to patients in collaboration with a licensed physician.
Develop skills and strategies necessary to optimize the health of patients in pain and to support the elimination of the major public health problem of incomplete assessment, treatment, and reassessment of pain and to decrease the burden of chronic pain as a major public health problem.
Analyze and overcome barriers to the management of acute, chronic, and cancer pain conditions, including reducing disparities in access to quality pain care across the healthcare continuum, and reducing unintentional consequences (misuse, abuse, and diversion issues) related to the use of opioid analgesics in the treatment of chronic pain.
Develop skills and strategies necessary to optimize the health of patients in pain and to support the elimination of the major public health problem of incomplete assessment, treatment, and reassessment of pain and to decrease the burden of chronic pain as a major public health problem.
Implement optimal clinical assessment and risk management strategies, evidence-based treatment protocols, and a patient-centered approach to improve the treatment of patients of all ages with various pain conditions. Including the development of guidelines and protocols.
Apply evidence-based integrative and interventional pain techniques to reduce costs, improve efficacy, and leverage outcome-tracking tools
Responsibilities & Duties:
Promotes and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
Interview and examine patients; review outside studies and medical histories, determine eligibility for interventional treatment by physician
Document patient care services on the day of service.
Develop comprehensive, individualized treatment plans
Treating a wide variety of patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and pain disorders
Pre and post intervention exams
Perform in-office procedures including Botox, joint, and soft tissue injections.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding pain management strategies and self-care techniques.
Educate patients and their family members regarding interventional pain procedures
Stay current on opioid prescribing guidelines outlined by the CDC, DEA and State of Wisconsin and Illinois Providing clinic support for follow-up visits
Review and answer messages; including physician and collaborate as appropriate
Medication and pump refills
Co-management of patients with physical therapy and occupational therapy
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pain management interventions.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization or experience in Pain Management a plus
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Practice or Adult Medicine.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Experience in performing minor medical procedures.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively.
Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification.
State-specific licensure for nurse practitioners.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must maintain a current medical license and DEA license
2-3 years of experience as an advanced practice provider is preferred
Experience in pain management or orthopedics is preferred
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to travel to offsite locations as needed
