APP – Orthopedic Surgery (PA)
Location: Northern California – near Bayside, CA
Start Date: As soon as credentialed ~ 90 days
Contract Length: 13 weeks (ongoing contract)
Schedule
Full-time weekday coverage with call
Monday–Thursday: Clinic, 8:00a–5:00p (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Friday: OR day, 7:30a–3:00p or 5:00p (admin or clinic if no cases)
Call: 5–7 days per month
• Weekday night call: 5:00p–8:00a
• Weekend: 24-hour call coverage
Call days may be flexible and non-consecutive
Practice Details
Inpatient and outpatient orthopedic surgery service
Clinic, OR, and perioperative coverage
Works directly with orthopedic surgeon and support staff
Average volume: ~20–22 patients per day
Trauma Level III environment
EMR: Epic
Clinical Scope
Orthopedic clinic evaluations and follow-ups
First assist in orthopedic surgeries
Inpatient rounding and perioperative management
Participate in call coverage, including nights and weekends
Coordinate care with surgical and interdisciplinary teams
Document all care in EMR
Requirements
Physician Assistant required
Active California license at submission
Board certified
DEA required
BLS required
Minimum 2 years recent hospital-based orthopedic experience
Trauma orthopedic experience required
Comfortable assisting with most orthopedic surgical procedures
Credentialing
Approx. 90-day credentialing timeline
