Orthopedic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider Opportunity
Location: Mankato, MN
Specialty: Orthopedics (Hand Surgery Focus)

Position Overview
This opportunity offers a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant the ability to practice at the top of their license within a collaborative orthopedic surgical environment. The role supports both new graduates and experienced APPs seeking to develop advanced clinical and surgical skills in a specialty-focused setting.
Practice Highlights
* Collaborative orthopedic surgical team with strong APP integration
* Primary focus supporting a hand surgeon within a general orthopedic practice
* Exposure to multiple orthopedic subspecialties through cross-coverage
* Level III trauma center with acute orthopedic injury exposure
* Academic culture emphasizing mentorship, teamwork, and professional growth
* Structured onboarding period of approximately 3–6 months based on experience
Clinical Responsibilities
* Pre-operative evaluation and surgical planning
* Intra-operative first assisting
* Postoperative inpatient and outpatient management
* Independent outpatient clinic schedules
* Hospital rounding and care coordination
* Evaluation and management of acute orthopedic injuries from the Emergency Department
Call Responsibilities
* Shared orthopedic call rotation approximately 1:6
* Weekday and weekend home call
* Daytime: APP serves as first call
* Overnight: APP covers hospital needs and patient calls
* Surgeons serve as first call for ED and transfer cases
Team Structure
* 5 Advanced Practice Providers
* 6 orthopedic surgeons
* Podiatry team and non-operative specialists
* Multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient support staff
Compensation & Benefits
* Salary range: $119,870.40 – $167,273.60 annually

Candidate Qualifications
*Nurse Practitioner*
* Master’s-prepared graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
* Current Minnesota RN and APRN licensure
* Certification as FNP, ACNP, or ANP
*Physician Assistant*
* Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
* Current NCCPA certification
* Minnesota PA licensure
Additional Requirements
* Eligible for DEA registration
* BLS required
* ACLS preferred
* 1–2 years of clinical or surgical experience preferred but not required
* Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and ability to function independently within a team-based surgical practice
* Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
