ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum PA Orthopedic Surgery to work closely with an attending orthopedic surgeon, the PA manages inpatient and ED orthopedic patients, assists in surgery, and provides comprehensive diagnostic, procedural, and perioperative care. The position requires strong clinical autonomy, comfort with call coverage, and proficiency in documentation and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Dates / Schedule

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Work Week: Sunday–Saturday

  • Call Coverage: Weekday, weekend, holiday, night, and 24-hour call rotation

  • Overtime: Paid after 40 hours

  • Training: 4 hours unpaid EPIC training (option to test out in 2 hours)

  • Credentialing: Temporary privileges available

Job Details & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with attending physicians to evaluate patients, develop and implement care plans, and participate in daily rounds

  • Document histories, physicals, progress notes, discharge summaries, and care plans in the electronic medical record

  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies (e.g., EMG, EKG, X-ray, CT, MRI, bone scans)

  • Perform a wide range of orthopedic procedures, including:

    • Digital blocks, regional anesthesia, wound care and closure, incision and drainage

    • Tendon repair, debridement, needle biopsy, percutaneous pinning, hardware and K-wire removal

    • Joint and bursa aspirations, injections, fracture/dislocation reductions, and cast/splint applications

  • Assist in surgery as first assist, including tissue closure and application of orthopedic appliances

  • Serve as primary orthopedic PA for ED and inpatient consults

  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, quality and safety initiatives, and respond to coding/documentation queries

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Board Certified Physician Assistant (Required)

  • Active Oregon PA License (Required)

  • Full-time availability (Required)

  • Eligible for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional privileges

  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EPIC) for real-time documentation

  • Ability to work independently and manage high-acuity, emergent situations

  • NPDB Self-Query (Required at submission)

  • CAQH login and password (Required at time of offer)

  • Strong clinical judgment, procedural competency, and communication skills
