Physician Assistant – Orthopedics / Musculoskeletal Care

Location: Edison, New Jersey
Compensation: $110,000 – $160,000 annually (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (flexibility required for occasional early or late shifts)
Employment Type: Full-time, W2

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Physician Assistant to join our orthopedic team in Edison, New Jersey. This is a hands-on, office-based clinical role focused on the evaluation and treatment of acute musculoskeletal injuries. The ideal candidate will be confident performing in-office procedures, interpreting diagnostics, and educating patients while working collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients presenting with acute musculoskeletal injuries.

  • Order and interpret diagnostic imaging, including X-rays and related tests.

  • Perform in-office procedures such as joint injections, splinting, casting, and minor wound care.

  • Dispense and properly fit durable medical equipment (DME).

  • Develop and document comprehensive treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery expectations.

  • Collaborate closely with physicians, medical assistants, and X-ray technicians to ensure coordinated care.

  • Maintain strict adherence to medical regulations, HIPAA compliance, and patient safety standards.

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in alignment with practice protocols.

Training & Support Structure

  • Initial period of shadowing a supervising physician for orientation and onboarding.

  • Transition to independent patient scheduling after training.

  • Supported by one medical assistant and one X-ray technician.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active New Jersey Physician Assistant License.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited PA program.

  • 3–5 years of experience in an orthopedic or musculoskeletal care setting.

Preferred:

  • Experience with acute injury management, DME fitting, and in-office orthopedic procedures.

  • Strong communication and patient education skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and handle a busy clinical caseload.
