Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner NP/Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will work closely with our attending orthopedic surgeons to provide comprehensive care, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, assist in surgery, and participate in hospital rounds.
This role requires clinical excellence, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Position Highlights:
Collaborate with attending physicians to prepare and record patient history, develop and implement care plans, and document relevant symptoms, findings, diagnoses, and care plans.
Utilize the electronic medical record (EMR) for order entry and documentation.
Participate in daily patient rounds, multidisciplinary rounds, and quality and safety initiatives.
Order and perform diagnostic studies including EMG, EKG, compartment pressure measurements, X-rays, CT, MRI, and bone scans.
Perform minor outpatient surgical procedures such as digital blocks, tendon repair, wound closure, wound management, debridement, incision and drainage, needle biopsy, percutaneous pinning of fractures, K-wire removal, and hardware removal.
Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including joint and bursa aspirations, closed reductions, injections (joints, tendons, trigger points, and bursae), brace/cast/splint applications.
Assist in surgeries including first assist, tissue closures, and application of appliances as delegated by the surgeon.
Serve as the primary orthopedic call provider for Bay Area Hospital’s patients in the Emergency Department and inpatient units, including weekday, weekend, night, and holiday coverage.
Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement treatment plans, and dictate discharge summaries, histories, and physicals
Skills & Abilities:
Proficient with electronic health records for documentation, assessment, and care management while providing patient care.
Ability to work independently and perform effectively in stressful or emergent situations.
Strong clinical judgment and collaborative skills
Schedule: 4x10 OR 5x8 hour shifts with call expectation of one-two nights night per week and every third weekend
Requirements:
Board Certified – Required
Active Oregon (OR) License
Eligibility for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional membership and privileges
