Tower Health Reading Hospital is seeking Advanced Practice Providers for our Reading Hospital Joint Program. The advanced practitioner will provide comprehensive medical care to patients, in collaboration with physicians and staff. One is for joint replacement inpatient unit work and the other is to support the OR joint program.

With 24 Operating Rooms and multiple specialties our OR will provide you with a challenging and rewarding career. You will establish a collaborative relationship with physicians, anesthesia, and other personnel to provide direct patient care within the specialty.

The Advanced Practice Provider First Assist works closely with surgeons in the operating room during a surgical procedure. Performs pre and post operative assessment and evaluation. Collaborates with the surgical team on plan of care.

Position details:

  • 1 Advanced Practice Provider for the OR
    • Surgical position for elective joint replacement
    • First Assist in OR and pre/post op orders
    • Consulting with patients before surgery to answer questions or address concerns
    • Work with surgeons, physicians, and other clinical staff to determine the best care for every patient
    • Prepare patients before surgery as well as providing immediate care to them after their surgery
    • Review and preop patient charts for surgery and surgical optimization
    • Provide patient education and patient contact both pre and post op
    • Facilitate for surgical cases and point person for sales reps
    • Active member on joint committees with role in joint related performance improvement projects
  • Advanced Practice Provider for the floor/inpatient support of the program
    • Performs inpatient rounding on post-op joint replacement patients
    • Facilitates multidisciplinary coordination of care
    • Performs discharge and follow-up
    • Cross cover and collaborate with trauma orthopedic APPs
