PA General Surgery Opportunity near West Los Angeles, California
Start Date: As soon as credentialed ~60-90 days
Contract Length: 8–10 weeks; potential extensions based on coverage needs
Schedule
Full-time coverage, Monday–Friday
Scheduled clinical hours only
No call
Mix of inpatient, OR, and clinic coverage
Weekly Breakdown:
Monday / Wednesday / Thursday: Inpatient & OR
Wednesday reserved for block time (larger cases)
Monday & Thursday lighter case load (add-ons, assists, smaller cases)
Tuesday / Friday: Clinic
Approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (often ends earlier ~2:00–3:00 PM)
Practice Details
Acute care hospital setting
Inpatient and outpatient surgery coverage
Surgical oncology and general surgery focus
PA works as first assist in the OR
Support staff provided
Teaching environment
Patient volume: approximately 4–15 per day
EMR: Epic
Clinical Scope
First assist in general surgery and surgical oncology cases
Inpatient rounding and management
OR support with block and add-on cases
Outpatient clinic visits (follow-ups, post-op care)
Independent inpatient coverage expected
Management of patient calls
Experience
Minimum 2 years of PA experience required
Strong OR and first-assist surgical skills required
Experience managing inpatients independently
Robotics experience required (certification must be included)
Requirements
Position: Physician Assistant (NPs not accepted)
Specialty: General Surgery / Surgical Oncology
Board Certified PA required
Active California PA license required (must be in hand)
DEA required
Minimum of 25 general surgical cases (notes, H&Ps)
Minimum of 5 OR cases documented
Epic charting experience required
Medical Requirements
COVID-19 vaccination per facility policy (medical/religious exemptions only)
Standard pre-employment health requirements
Credentialing
Full hospital credentialing required
All documentation must be submitted promptly
Credentialing reviews completed on a rolling basis
