Job description
We are seeking an experienced Oncology Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality hematology/oncology care in a well-established cancer center in Greenville, SC. This locums role includes outpatient clinic responsibilities, inpatient rounding on call weekends, and participation in a structured call rotation.
Shift & Call Details
- Clinic Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
- Call Requirements:
- First call for patient and
hospital phone calls
• Tuesday: 4:30 PM–8:00 AM
• Friday: 4:30 PM–Monday 8:00 AM - On-site inpatient rounding: Saturday & Sunday
- First call for patient and
hospital phone calls
- Call Rotation: Every 5–6 weeks depending on staffing
Practice Details
- Setting: Free-standing cancer center
- Patient Population: Adult & geriatric
- Case Mix:
- 65% benign hematology
- 35% malignant oncology
- 0% internal medicine
- Average Volumes:
- Outpatient: ~15 patients/day
- Inpatient (call weekends): ~20 patients/day
Responsibilities
- Manage patients receiving hematologic and oncologic care, including benign and malignant conditions.
- Oversee and participate in bone marrow transplant care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging studies.
- Perform inpatient rounding during call weekends.
- Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans collaboratively with attending physicians.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
Requirements
- Board Certified PA/NP with hematology & oncology experience
- Active South Carolina license (or ability to obtain)
- BLS certification
- DEA registration
- Experience in hematology/oncology and comfort managing both benign and malignant conditions required
