Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Primary position requires provision of clinical services within the facilities. Performs complete physical examinations for annual requirements as well as periodic surveillance examinations per company policy, OSHA and NAVSEA.
Conducts sick call on ill or injured employees with supervision from the Medical Director. This includes suturing lacerations, obtaining appropriate x-rays and laboratory tests and counseling employees concerning the results. Reviews restrictions on those returning to work and assists in the accommodations needed.
Liaisons with the Employee Assistance Program, Workers Compensation Facilitator, Benefits office and local physicians. Responsible for nursing/medical/emergency protocols including infection control and blood borne pathogen issues. Must be capable and responsible with program management of Sea Trials, Travel and Off Site Monitoring. Must be capable of becoming Radiation Health Indoctrination (RHI) certified via the USN.
Must be willing to work any shift and weekends as needed.
This position will be for our Groton/Quonset Point locations.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
·Bachelor's Degree (or higher) - new graduates will be considered
·Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a graduate of an accredited program for nurse practitioners, including preceptorship OR a graduate from a physician assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
·Certification by the applicable professional organization
·Current state license - must comply with all state requirements and regulations
·BLS, CPR certification
·Prescriptive authority in accordance with state rules and regulations - Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification

Skills:
·Must possess good communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to work well with a variety of people
·Must have experience with an Electronic Medical Record
·Ability to prioritize and problem solve
·Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity to chronic medical and social problems
·Ability to relate well to patients, families, co-workers and physicians
·Ability to set realistic, measurable education goals for patients, taking into consideration patient/family needs, level of understanding and available local resources
·Ability to develop and provide individualized and group counseling, guidance, and health instruction with a focus on disease prevention and health maintenance
·Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and basic computer maneuverability
·Must possess a professional attitude and be willing to complete all clinical as well as administrative assignments
