Job description Physician's Assistant – Nephrology & Endocrinology

Location: Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania
Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday | Rotating weekend hospital rounds (every 3rd weekend)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our collaborative nephrology and endocrinology care team. In this role, you’ll work closely with supervising physicians to deliver comprehensive care to patients managing chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and related conditions.

This role includes a mix of dialysis rounding, office visits, hospital rounding, and patient care coordination. It is ideal for a clinically strong provider who thrives in a multi-setting environment and is committed to providing excellent patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations

  • Develop differential diagnoses and implement tailored treatment plans

  • Educate patients and families on care plans, treatment expectations, and compliance

  • Provide care in multiple settings including dialysis clinics, outpatient offices, and inpatient hospital rounds

  • Perform dialysis rounding 3 times per month

  • Complete 50% of work in hospital rounding within a regional pod (Jefferson Hospital and McKeesport Hospital)

  • Manage 15–20 patients per day in an outpatient office setting

  • Participate in rotating weekend call coverage (every 3rd weekend – approx. 18 weekends per year, goal is 13)

  • Document all patient interactions and treatment plans in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and completion of accredited PA or NP program

  • National certification (NCCPA for PA or AANPCB for NP)

  • Active Pennsylvania PA or NP license

  • DEA license

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience (hospital, clinic, or outpatient setting)

Preferred:

  • Experience in nephrology, endocrinology, or managing chronic disease populations

  • Strong clinical decision-making and patient care skills

  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively across care teams

Additional Details

  • Mileage reimbursement offered for hospital rounds outside of clinic commute

  • Open to part-time or weekend-only candidates

  • Ability to be reassigned to a different regional pod for coverage when needed (within approx. 1-hour commute)

  • Use of electronic health records required; strong documentation skills expected
