Director of Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program (NNP) – Putnam, Connecticut
Location: Putnam, CT

Seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to serve as Director of the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program. This leadership role ensures the highest standards of neonatal care through effective coordination, oversight, and development of the Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (APP/NNP) team while maintaining active clinical involvement.
Position Highlights:
Leadership position overseeing the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program
Serve as administrator, clinical specialist, and direct patient care provider
Coordinate APP/NNP clinical coverage and scheduling
Promote collaboration across physicians, nursing staff, administration, and families
Contribute to growth and development of neonatal services
Foster communication, performance improvement, and team development
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of NNP staff
Develop and coordinate schedules for Advanced Practice Providers
Manage APP time-off requests and ensure appropriate department coverage
Serve as liaison between hospital leadership and neonatal providers
Provide clinical guidance and support to staff regarding neonatal patient care
Track and coordinate professional development activities (NRP, education, conferences)
Support performance review processes with departmental leadership
Collaborate with compliance and coding teams to ensure proper billing education and procedures
Participate in departmental and service-line meetings
Facilitate communication between Department Chair and NNP staff
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Nursing with Neonatal Advanced Practice focus
Current Connecticut RN and APRN licensure
Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
State and Federal Controlled Substance authorization
BLS and NRP certification required
ACLS certification optional
Experience:
Minimum five years clinical experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in a Level III or Level IV NICU
Experience providing direct neonatal patient management
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills
