The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking Highly Qualified Neonatal or Pediatric Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to work weekends in an established Level I practice at Hilton Head Hospital, in collaboration with MUSC in Charleston, SC. The qualified Advanced Practice Provider will attend high risk deliveries and develop a plan of care for each infant while collaborating with MUSC physicians in Charleston via Telehealth technology. Hilton Head Hospital delivery volume is between 30-40 babies per month.
Required Minimum Training and Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure. Must have at least 5 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
- The Advanced Practice Provider position will be PRN; weekend coverage starting at 5pm Friday until 8am Monday, overnight call (from home) or 30-minute response time.
- Candidates must be confident and have the experience and knowledge to make decisions about patient care while relaying key information to collaborating physicians located off-site.
- Must be comfortable with resuscitation, peripheral IVs, ART sticks, managing ventilators, administering pulmonary surfactant, umbilical lines, catheters, and other sick baby related procedures. Circumcision is a must, will provide training with Plastibell if needed.
- Strong leadership skills are required, and candidates must be willing to guide and develop nursing support to achieve optimal patient care.
- The Advanced Practice Provider position will be PRN; providing weekend rounding coverage and attend high risk deliveries as needed. APP must be able to commit to a minimum of 1 weekend per quarter.
