Position Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) will conduct non-treatment, objective disability examinations for U.S. Veterans as part of the VA Compensation & Pension (C&P) evaluation process. This role involves performing comprehensive assessments, reviewing records, and completing Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) with accuracy and integrity. Job Responsibilities
Review service treatment records, medical documentation, and prior evaluations before each exam.
Complete VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) thoroughly and objectively, in line with VA and contractor guidelines.
Document findings clearly and accurately within Stellar Healthcare Partners’ EMR systems and designated VA portals.
Conduct a variety of exam types based on training and scope, including musculoskeletal, neurological, general medical, and other specialty‑aligned assessments.
Maintain strict neutrality—no diagnosing, prescribing, or medical treatment provided.
Support clinic workflows by ensuring timely report submission and communication with administrative staff.
Provide a Veteran‑centered experience and uphold the professionalism and values of Stellar Healthcare Partners.
Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Active, unrestricted New Jersey PA license.
Current NCCPA certification.
BLS/CPR certification.
Strong examination skills and attention to detail in documenting objective findings.
Ability to meet documentation deadlines and work within structured federal guidelines.
Preferred:
Prior experience with VA C&P examinations through QTC, VES, LHI, or similar organizations.
Background in primary care, urgent care, internal medicine, orthopedics, or related specialties.
Familiarity with VA DBQs and Veteran disability rating processes.
Working Hours
Outpatient, evaluation‑only clinic setting.
No on‑call, nights, or prescribing responsibilities.
Predictable, structured schedule with flexibility when needed.
Supportive team environment with streamlined workflows.
Skills
Competent in the use of MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe pdf, web-based platforms and electronic medical records systems. Familiarity with Teams and web-based instructional/learning management systems preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must be able to see, hear, smell, bend, stretch, and engage in full range of motion in order to safely conduct comprehensive physical examinations.
