Advanced Practice Provider – Hospital Internal Medicine (NP or PA)
Location: Mankato, MN
Department: Hospital Internal Medicine
Employment Type: Full-Time, permanent position
Setting: Inpatient Medical/Surgical, Progressive Care, ICU coverage
Position Overview
This inpatient-focused role provides 24/7 hospital medicine coverage within a regional system. The APP functions as an independent provider while collaborating closely with on-site physicians to deliver comprehensive care to hospitalized adult patients. The position includes a home base in Mankato with scheduled travel to regional sites.
Practice Environment
* Inpatient medical/surgical and progressive care units
* Collaborative physician–APP care model
* Regional hospital coverage with structured onboarding
* Strong emphasis on independent practice with physician partnership
Clinical Responsibilities
* Perform admissions, daily rounding, and discharges
* Provide comprehensive patient assessment and diagnosis
* Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies
* Prescribe pharmacologic treatments and manage ongoing care
* Coordinate referrals and patient education
* Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
* Manage patients across medical/surgical and progressive care settings
Orientation & Training
* Primary orientation at the Mankato site and a regional location
* Exposure to medical/surgical floors, progressive care, ICU, and critical access expectations
* Additional onboarding may include simulation and didactic training at regional education sites
Coverage Model
* 24/7 hospital medicine coverage
* Home base in Mankato with travel to regional sites including Fairmont, Waseca, St. James, Austin, Red Wing, and New Prague
Schedule
* Full-time inpatient schedule

Qualifications
* Nurse Practitioner
* Master’s degree from an accredited NP program
* Board certification in one of the following:
* Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
* Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
* Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
* Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGNP/AGPCNP)
* Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP/ACNPC-AG)
* Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (GNP)
* Active or eligible Minnesota RN and APRN licensure
* Physician Assistant
* Graduate of an accredited PA program
* NCCPA certification
* Active or eligible Minnesota PA licensure
Additional Requirements
* DEA registration required
* BLS and ACLS required
Application Requirements
* External and internal candidates: 2–3 letters of reference
* New graduates: 3 letters of reference from clinical preceptors
* Internal candidates: 3 most recent performance evaluations
