  1. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner provides general medical care, treatment and health care services to patients within scope of their licensure and expertise level.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program or physician assistant program.
  • Licensures, Certifications, Registrations:
    • For Nurse Practitioners: Current Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP); approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner with a current Montana Board of Nursing license as an advanced practice nurse, CPR/ACLS, current DEA
    • For PA's: Current license as a Physician Assistant from the Montana Board of Medical Examiners, board certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA), CPR/ACLS, current
  • Job Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong clinical skills, analyzing data to formulate diagnosis and treatment plans; admit patient in hospital setting; professional communication skills, both verbal and written; exercises initiative and judgment; conflict resolution; demonstrates empathy and sensitivity necessary to elicit patient' s/family' s cooperation and ally apprehensions; works in a manner which is conducive to productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Experience: Nurse practitioner or Physician assistant with Hospitalist experience, one (1) year minimum post training, two (2) or more years

III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coverage of Hospitalist service from 7 M. TO 7 A.M. with Hospitalist physician backup on call for ICU admissions or complex admissions or other acute patient care needs.
  • Writing admission orders for Hospitalist patients from 7 P.M. - 7 M.
  • Participate in CMS and other quality measures for the Hospitalist patients.
  • Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Marcus Daly Memorial
  • Examines patients and performs comprehensive physical examination, compiles patient medical data including health history and results of physical
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, laboratory, and other ancillary services as appropriate and differentiates between normal and abnormal information contained in the test results
  • Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality; participates in the continued program development and marketing of service
  • Demonstrate adherence to the laws and regulations passed by official regulations, general principles of ethical conduct and internal policies and
  • Shifts will be 7 nights on, 7 nights
