JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Physician Assistant – Hospitalist
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Potsdam, NY
• Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: 05/25/2026 – Ongoing (28 weeks initial)
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Nights, 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
COVERAGE DATES
• May 2026 – Ongoing (approximately 1 week per month)
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Patient Volume/Census: 10–15 patients per provider
• Admissions: Yes
• Rounding: Included
• Phone Consults: Yes
• Case Mix: General hospitalist care for acutely ill adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions
FACILITY INFORMATION
• No. of Beds in Department: 109
• EMR System: Epic
• Office Equipment Available: Standard hospital equipment with automated medication dispensing (Pyxis)
• Specialty Backup Available: Available as needed
• Support Staff Available: 1 Provider, 1 NP, 1 LPN
• Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered (per facility guidelines)
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• General inpatient medical management
• Diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning
• Coordination of care and patient management
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active NY license required
• Board: Board Certified
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Experience: Minimum 2 years recent hospitalist experience
• Other Qualifications: Epic experience required; strong communication skills
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide comprehensive inpatient care to hospitalized patients
• Diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions
• Perform patient admissions, evaluations, and follow-up care
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and primary care providers
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging
