Job description Hospital Internal Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Nights Location: Phoenix, AZ Department: Hospital Internal Medicine Employment Type: Full Time, permanent position Setting: Inpatient Schedule: Nights Only Position Overview This Advanced Practice Provider role supports a high-acuity Hospital Internal Medicine service providing overnight coverage for a clinically complex inpatient population. The APP works collaboratively with physicians and fellow APPs to manage admissions, consultations, and cross-coverage responsibilities across medical/surgical and progressive care units, with a clinical emphasis on hematology, oncology, and transplant medicine. Position Highlights * Nights-only inpatient hospital medicine role * High-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment * Focus on hematology, oncology, and transplant populations * Expanding internal medicine service with long-term stability * Opportunities for involvement in education, research, and quality initiatives Clinical Responsibilities * Complete inpatient admissions and consultations * Provide overnight cross-cover for hospitalized patients * Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions * Manage patients in medical/surgical and progressive care units * Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic studies * Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments * Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams * Participate in performance improvement, education, and research activities Schedule * Full-time position * 12-hour night shifts * Includes weekends and holidays * Rotating weekend requirement Qualifications * One to three years of inpatient clinical experience required * Hospital Internal Medicine experience preferred * New graduates will not be considered Nurse Practitioner * Master’s-prepared graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program * Current Arizona RN and APRN license * Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification required Physician Assistant * Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program * Current NCCPA certification * Registration with the Arizona State Board of Medical Practice Additional Requirements * BLS and ACLS certification required * DEA registration required * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Demonstrated leadership ability * Flexibility to adjust schedule and workload * Ability to manage time and stress in a high-acuity inpatient setting * Experience with electronic medical records preferred Compensation & Benefits * Competitive compensation based on education, experience, and internal equity * Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement * Full-time benefits eligible
