Position OverviewA community hospital in Queens is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join its Inpatient Internal Medicine / Hospitalist team. This is a permanent, hospital-employed position providing care to a diverse patient population with acute and chronic medical conditions. Multiple full-time shift options are available, including day, evening, and night coverage.
The PA will work collaboratively with supervising physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Clinical ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment & Management

Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams on new admissions and existing patients

Formulate differential diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans

Order and interpret labs, imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI), and other diagnostic studies

Prescribe medications and therapies per hospital protocols

Manage acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in inpatient medicine (e.g., pneumonia, heart failure, COPD exacerbations, sepsis, kidney injury, diabetes)

Perform minor procedures as privileged (venipuncture, arterial blood gases, nasogastric tube insertion, basic wound care)
Collaboration & Communication

Participate in daily rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and hand-off communications

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members regarding care plans and updates
Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records in the EMR

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
Discharge Planning

Assist with discharge coordination, medication reconciliation, patient education, and follow-up care arrangements
Professional Development

Engage in continuing education and CME activities

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental projects

Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (+ 10% evening differential for eligible shifts)

Night Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM (+ shift differential)

Full-time (75 hours biweekly)

Master’s degree from an accredited PA program
-
NCCPA certification and current, unrestricted NY State PA license

Valid DEA registration
-
1–2 years of inpatient experience preferred (Internal Medicine or Hospital Medicine)

Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems

Ability to work independently under physician supervision in a fast-paced hospital environment

Pay: $76.97 – $94.17/hour depending on experience + shift differentials
