Inpatient/Hospitalist Locum Tenens Physician Assistant

Position Overview

One of our Partners is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide inpatient internal medicine coverage in Hackensack, New Jersey. This assignment is a backfill due to an urgent resignation and requires a provider who can step in quickly and maintain continuity of care.

This is a weekday-only, no-call assignment with a reasonable patient census, minimal procedures, and strong on-site clinical support.

Assignment Highlights

• Inpatient internal medicine coverage
• No call
• Monday–Friday schedule
• 40 hours per week
• 15–20 patients per day
• Mix of new admissions, consults, and follow-ups
• Team includes 2 physicians and 1 additional APP
• Full nursing and administrative support
• Minimal procedures (suture removal, wound care)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient internal medicine care for an established patient population
• Perform daily rounds, consults, and follow-ups
• Collaborate closely with physicians, APPs, nursing, and care coordination staff
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EMR
• Perform limited bedside procedures as needed

Skills & Experience

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with inpatient internal medicine experience
• Comfortable managing a moderate daily census independently
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to integrate quickly into an established care team
