Locum NP/PA – Hematology/Oncology - Santa Cruz, CA

Seeking one full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant specializing in Hematology/Oncology to provide outpatient care in their ambulatory clinic. This assignment begins as soon as credentialed, and the organization may consider permanent employment if the candidate is a strong fit.

Position Overview

  • Setting: Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology clinic

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Position Type: Full-time locum (1.0 FTE)

  • Start Date: As soon as credentialed

  • Patient Volume: Approximately 16–18 patients per day

  • EMR: Cerner

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive hematology and oncology care in an outpatient setting

  • Coordinate treatment with the co-located Solari Infusion Center, which includes 15 private infusion bays designed for patient comfort and safety

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to support patients from diagnosis through survivorship

Practice Environment

Providers will work within a well-supported oncology program that includes:

  • Nurse navigators and social workers

  • Dedicated RN staff

  • Pharmacy liaison for oral oncology medications

  • Research coordinators and genetic counselors

  • Access to clinical trials and survivorship programs

Additional clinical resources include:

  • 17-bed inpatient oncology unit with daily multidisciplinary rounds

  • Weekly tumor boards

  • Rapid diagnosis clinic

  • Two affiliated radiation centers

  • Katz Cancer Resource Center and supportive care services

Requirements

  • Active California license (required)

  • DEA required

  • BLS preferred (can be obtained during credentialing)

  • Board certification in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology preferred; board eligible candidates considered

  • Completion of an accredited post-graduate training program

  • Clean malpractice and background history required

Additional Details

  • Credentialing timeframe: Up to 90 days (emergency privileges available)

  • Reason for coverage: Physicians leaving to start a private practice

  • Travel: Airfare not approved; candidates should be local or able to commute
