Locum NP/PA – Hematology/Oncology - Santa Cruz, CA
Seeking one full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant specializing in Hematology/Oncology to provide outpatient care in their ambulatory clinic. This assignment begins as soon as credentialed, and the organization may consider permanent employment if the candidate is a strong fit.
Position Overview

Setting: Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology clinic

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Type: Full-time locum (1.0 FTE)

Start Date: As soon as credentialed

Patient Volume: Approximately 16–18 patients per day

EMR: Cerner
Clinical Responsibilities
-
Provide comprehensive hematology and oncology care in an outpatient setting
-
Coordinate treatment with the co-located Solari Infusion Center, which includes 15 private infusion bays designed for patient comfort and safety
-
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to support patients from diagnosis through survivorship
Practice Environment
Providers will work within a well-supported oncology program that includes:

Nurse navigators and social workers

Dedicated RN staff

Pharmacy liaison for oral oncology medications

Research coordinators and genetic counselors
-
Access to clinical trials and survivorship programs
Additional clinical resources include:

17-bed inpatient oncology unit with daily multidisciplinary rounds

Weekly tumor boards
-
Rapid diagnosis clinic

Two affiliated radiation centers
-
Katz Cancer Resource Center and supportive care services
Requirements
-
Active California license (required)
-
DEA required
-
BLS preferred (can be obtained during credentialing)

Board certification in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology preferred; board eligible candidates considered

Completion of an accredited post-graduate training program

Clean malpractice and background history required
Additional Details

Credentialing timeframe: Up to 90 days (emergency privileges available)
