Physician Assistant -Gastroenterology (Hospital-Based)
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Employment Type: Full-Time, permanent position
Position Summary:
Join a dynamic gastroenterology team providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a hospital setting. This position offers the opportunity to work under physician supervision in a collaborative environment, helping manage a wide range of inpatient GI conditions. Ideal candidates will be compassionate, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform comprehensive patient assessments and physical exams
* Develop and implement treatment plans in coordination with supervising physicians
* Prescribe medications and therapies per hospital and state regulations
* Provide pre- and post-operative care, including discharge planning and patient education
* Interpret and communicate diagnostic test results
* Participate in inpatient rounds and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
* Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EHR
* Educate patients and families on conditions and treatment plans
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development
* Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians and hospitalists
Qualifications:
* Licensed Physician Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in Florida
* EMR proficiency and strong written/verbal communication skills
* Flexible and adaptable work habits
* HIPAA compliance and understanding of patient privacy standards
* Commitment to ethical and professional standards of care
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to sit, stand, walk, and assist patients in movement
* Ability to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally
* Normal hearing and vision required
* Manual dexterity for daily clinical tasks
