This 13-week locums opportunity in Farmington, CT offers a strong mix of OR first assist, inpatient neurosurgery, and potential clinic coverage with a consistent full-time schedule.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced Neurosurgical PA or first-assist-certified NP who is comfortable stepping into the OR and supporting complex neurosurgical care.

GET IN THE OR

This isn't a sit-back APP role. You'll work alongside attending surgeons and OR teams with opportunities to perform first assist duties on neurosurgical, spine, and craniotomy procedures, including deep and superficial wound closure.

You'll also assist with surgical preparation, post-operative orders, and transition of care to post-op teams.

INPATIENT + CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

Depending on experience and coverage needs, responsibilities may include:

• Daily Neurosurgical Rounds
• Neurosurgical Bedside Procedures
• Patient Evaluation + Treatment Planning
• Orders + Progress Notes
• Emergency Department Consults
• Discharge Planning
• Post-Operative Management
• Outpatient Follow-Up
• Patient Education + Referrals

Typical inpatient census is approximately 8-16 patients, although volume may range from 5-20+. Clinic volume may range from approximately 12-24 patients per day depending on coverage.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Neurosurgical Physician Assistant
• NPs with appropriate First Assist Certification may be considered
• Active, unencumbered Connecticut license
• Graduate of an accredited PA program for PA candidates
• Surgical experience strongly preferred
• 2 years of surgical PA experience preferred
• 1+ year of neurosurgical experience preferred
• ACLS preferred
• Comfortable with neurosurgery, spine, craniotomies, and surgical first assist

13 weeks. 40 hours a week. First assist. Spine. Craniotomies. Full-time neurosurgical coverage.
