Job Details

• Position: Neonatal Physician Assistant – Locum Tenens
• Location: Oakland, CA 94609
• Setting: Hospital-based Level IV Newborn ICU / NICU
• Duration: 26 weeks
• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,040 - $5,400
• Patient Population: Newborns and infants from birth to 1 year old
• Charting System: EPIC
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Credentialing Timeline: Please allow 60-90 days for privileging

Job Requirements

• Physician Assistant degree required; Master’s in PA Studies or Master’s in Medical Science preferred/required for eligibility
• Minimum 2-3 years of neonatal experience in Level III or Level IV NICU settings
• Board certification in Neonatology required
• Active California PA license required
• Current DEA with California address and Schedule 2/2N authority required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• All certifications must be AHA-approved
• Must be enrolled with CMS Medicare and Medicaid by the first clinical day
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only
• Provider should be prepared to submit CV, license verification, and required credentialing documents promptly

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality care for inpatient newborns and infants in a Level IV NICU environment
• Work collaboratively with physicians, surgeons, APP colleagues, and support staff as part of an interdisciplinary neonatal care team
• Support the care of critically ill neonates, including infants with complex cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and other life-threatening conditions
• Perform patient care duties appropriate to the Physician Assistant role and clearly defined by the division
• Meet productivity expectations established by leadership
• Contribute to weekend, holiday, and night coverage as part of the full-time schedule
• Deliver compassionate, family-centered care to vulnerable neonatal patients
