Physician Assistant Job Details

• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Contract)
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital – Plastic Surgery (Breast Reconstruction)
• Location: San Francisco, CA 94158
• Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, 4x10-hour day shifts (07:00 – 17:00)
• Contract Duration: 26 weeks (April 6, 2026 – October 5, 2026)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $5,250 – $5,620
• Patient Population: Adults and occasional adolescents
• EMR: Epic
• Support Staff: MAs, RNs, APPs, surgeons
• Call Requirements: None

Physician Assistant Qualifications

• Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies
• Active California PA license
• Current CA DEA registration with Schedule 2 authority
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• At least 1 year of recent experience in surgical oncology or plastic surgery as an APP
• Preferred: Experience in surgical breast reconstruction; other oncology surgical experience considered
• Proficient in basic operating room skills (suturing, tissue expansion, wound care)
• Ability to work in both the operating room and inpatient floor
• COVID-19 vaccine and booster required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Healthcare Responsibilities

• Assist with breast reconstruction surgeries (primarily post-mastectomy) in the OR (50–75% of time)
• Manage patients on the med-surg/telemetry unit (25–50% of time)
• Perform basic OR procedures: suturing, tissue expansion, wound care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care
• Document patient encounters and procedures using Epic EMR
• Provide compassionate care to adult and adolescent patients undergoing reconstructive surgery
