Job Details

Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform history and physical exams, including pelvic exams when indicated
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities within scope of specialty
- Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy (must have performed at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months)
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriate
- Conduct arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
- Provide debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Incise and drain superficial abscesses
- Perform urinary bladder catheterization (short term and indwelling)
- Perform venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization
- Assess and manage intrapartum, antepartum, and postpartum patients, including high-risk pregnancies
- Conduct colposcopy and biopsies
- Interpret fetal heart monitoring and tracings
- Insert and remove intrauterine devices (IUDs) and subcutaneous birth control
- Initiate pharmacologic therapy for general gynecologic and obstetric health needs
- Perform endometrial, vaginal, and vulvar biopsies
- Screen and refer for other health problems, including suspected sexual abuse and pregnancy complications
- Act as surgical first assistant, including tissue closure/cautery and other delegated actions under physician supervision
- Insert Foley catheter to cervix for vaginal delivery
- Perform deliveries under direct supervision
Additional Information
- Must hold a current New York license
- Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Experience with chemotherapy/biotherapy administration required (minimum 10 cases in prior 12 months)
- Preferred board certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
