Job description We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant for a 13-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity starts Jan 2, 2026, with orientation followed by clinical work beginning Jan 5, 2026. The schedule consists of 13 shifts per month, Monday through Friday, with shifts from 07:00 to 19:30. The focus is on inpatient neuro oncology care, including chemotherapy and biotherapy management.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide inpatient neuro oncology care, including assessment, diagnosis, monitoring, and management of acute and chronic illness
  • Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy, including prescribing and managing related therapies
  • Perform lumbar punctures with or without chemotherapy, demonstrating recent clinical competence
  • Complete histories and physical examinations, including neurological assessments
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities within scope
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for neuro oncology and hematology/oncology conditions
  • Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
  • Provide wound care, including debridement and minor surgical procedures
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Remove central venous catheters
  • Assess eligibility for thrombolytic therapy and perform intravenous thrombolytic therapy for stroke in collaboration with the stroke team
  • Perform EEG interpretation as appropriate

Additional Information
  • Must hold active New York licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Recent experience in administering chemotherapy/biotherapy and performing lumbar punctures with or without chemotherapy is required
  • Board certifications relevant to adult gerontology and primary care are preferred
