Job Details

- Schedule: Monday-Friday (4 shifts a week), 08:00-18:00
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess, diagnose, monitor, and promote health and protection from disease for inpatient neuro oncology patients
- Manage patient conditions within the scope of neuro oncology, including acute and chronic illness
- Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy as required
- Perform lumbar punctures with or without chemotherapy
- Conduct history and physical exams
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions
- Perform arterial punctures, blood gas sampling, incision and drainage of superficial abscesses, and superficial wound care
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Remove central venous catheters
- Complete Death Certificate Protocols as applicable
- Assess eligibility and perform intravenous thrombolytic therapy for stroke in collaboration with the stroke team (per policy requirements)
- Perform EEG interpretation
- Manage patients in the intensive care setting in accordance with unit policies
Additional Information
- Active New York PA license required
- Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certifications required
- Demonstrated competence in chemotherapy/biotherapy administration (minimum of 10 in the past 12 months)
- Demonstrated competence in lumbar punctures with or without chemotherapy (minimum of 5 in the past 12 months or completion of relevant training)
- Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations
- Candidates must meet requirements for neuro oncology core privileges
