Job description We are seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant for a locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity starts on Jan 2, 2026, offers a 20-day contract, and features day shifts, Monday through Friday. You will join an outpatient Hematology/Oncology practice, providing specialized care to patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with cancer and hematological conditions
  • Promote health and protection from disease within the scope of supervising physician
  • Perform history and physical exams
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities relevant to Hematology/Oncology
  • Administer and prescribe chemotherapy/biotherapy, with documented recent experience
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriate
  • Execute arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
  • Conduct debridement and care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Complete Death Certificate Protocols
  • Remove arterial and central venous catheters, as well as chest tubes
  • Perform urinary bladder catheterization
  • Conduct fine needle aspiration and punch biopsy of skin
  • Perform venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization

Additional Information
  • Valid New York license required
  • Must demonstrate current competence and performance of at least 10 chemotherapy/biotherapy administrations in the past 12 months
  • Required certifications: ARC-PA, ACLS, BCLS
  • Board certifications accepted: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
