Job Details
- Location: New York

- Provider Type Needed: Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 07:00-19:30 (13 shifts per month); chance to add weekend shifts if 13 shift minimum is met
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide inpatient hematology/oncology consults
- Assess, diagnose, and monitor patients with cancer and other hematologic diseases
- Promote patient health and manage care within the scope of the supervising physician
- Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy and demonstrate competence with at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months
- Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
- Debride and provide care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical procedures
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
- Complete death certificate protocols
- Remove arterial and central venous catheters, as well as chest tubes
- Perform fine needle aspiration and punch biopsy of skin
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities (laboratory tests, medications, hemodynamic monitoring, imaging studies)
- Conduct urinary bladder catheterization and venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriate
Additional Information
- Active New York PA license required
- Must hold ARC-PA accreditation, ACLS, and BCLS certifications
- Experience in chemotherapy/biotherapy prescribing and administration required
