We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant for a 13-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity begins with orientation on Jan 2, 2026, followed by clinical work starting Jan 5, 2026. The schedule includes night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, with 13 shifts required per month. The ideal candidate will have recent experience administering chemotherapy and biotherapy and will provide comprehensive care to patients with various cancer types and hematologic disorders.

Job Details

Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with malignant and benign tumors or diseases
- Promote health and protection from disease within the scope of the supervising physician
- Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
- Conduct debridement and provide care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriate
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities, including laboratory tests, medications, hemodynamic monitoring, IV fluids, EMG, ECG, radiologic studies (arthrogram, ultrasound, CT, MRI, bone scan)
- Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
- Perform urinary bladder catheterization (short term and indwelling)
- Perform venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization
- Complete Death Certificate Protocols
- Remove arterial catheters, central venous catheters, and chest tubes
- Perform fine needle aspiration and punch biopsy of skin
- Demonstrate recent experience in administering chemotherapy and biotherapy (at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months)
Additional Information
- Active New York license required
- Must hold ARC-PA accreditation
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certifications required
- Experience in an Oncology Care Unit (OCU) preferred
