We are seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant for a 20-day locum tenens assignment with our client in New York. This opportunity begins on Jan 2, 2026, and offers night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will have recent experience administering chemotherapy and biotherapy, and is comfortable working in an outpatient hematology/oncology practice setting.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess, diagnose, and monitor patients with cancer and other benign or malignant tumors
- Promote health and implement disease protection measures within the scope of hematology/oncology
- Manage patient care in collaboration with the supervising physician
- Administer and prescribe chemotherapy and biotherapy, demonstrating recent competency
- Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
- Provide debridement and care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
- Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, including laboratory tests, imaging, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Perform urinary bladder catheterization and venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization
- Complete death certificate protocols
- Remove arterial and central venous catheters, as well as chest tubes
- Conduct fine needle aspiration and punch biopsy of skin
Additional Information
- Must hold a current New York state license
- Required certifications: ARC-PA, ACLS, BCLS
- Documented competency in administering at least 10 chemotherapy/biotherapy treatments in the past 12 months
- Board certifications accepted: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner (for reference to collaborative care)
- Orientation on Jan 2, 2026; clinical work begins Jan 5, 2026
