Job Details

- Schedule: 7:00-19:30, 7 days a week (13 shifts a month)
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide inpatient BMT NP service, including administration of hematopoietic cells
- Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with cancer and other benign or malignant tumors and diseases
- Perform history and physical exams
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities relevant to hematology/oncology
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions
- Conduct arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
- Debride and provide care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
- Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Complete death certificate protocols
- Remove arterial and central venous catheters, as well as chest tubes
- Perform urinary bladder catheterization and venous punctures
- Conduct fine needle aspiration and punch biopsy of skin
Additional Information
- Valid New York licensure required
- Must demonstrate recent experience with at least 10 administrations of chemotherapy/biotherapy in the past 12 months
- Successful completion of relevant training in hematopoietic cell administration within the past 12 months, or current competence with at least 3 administrations in the last 12 months
- Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
