Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage patients within hematology and oncology scope, under physician supervision
- Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
- Conduct debridement and provide care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical procedures
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriate
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities, including laboratory tests, medications, hemodynamic monitoring, IV fluids, EMG, electrocardiogram, and radiologic studies (ultrasound, CT, MRI, bone scan)
- Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
- Perform urinary bladder catheterization (short term and indwelling)
- Perform venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization
- Provide ambulatory therapeutic infusion, including chemotherapy and biotherapy prescribing and administration
Additional Information
- Must hold current NY license as a Physician Assistant
- Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Demonstrate recent competence with at least 10 administrations of chemotherapy/biotherapy in the past 12 months
