Job Description:

Join a world-class surgical team in Nashville, TN as a First Assist Physician Assistant in the Cardiac Surgery Unit. This is a 13-week locum tenens assignment with the possibility of extension, offering flexibility, hands-on OR experience, and a dynamic environment working alongside top cardiothoracic surgeons. Lodging and local transportation support is available (excluding airfare).

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide surgical first assist during cardiac procedures including ECMO, TAVR, valve replacements, and LVAD placement
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) using Hemopro and Maquet
• Work closely with cardiac surgeons throughout perioperative phases
• Assist in post-op patient management and care documentation

Qualifications:

• Active Tennessee PA license (or willing to obtain)
• SFA Certification required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
• 3–5 years of first assist/cardiac OR experience
• EVH experience required
• Strongly preferred: experience with heart transplant cases

Working Hours:

• 12-hour shifts, flexible days or nights
• Minimum 8–10 shifts/month
• Optional call coverage

Skills:

• Expert-level first assist in high-acuity cardiac procedures
• Proficiency with EPIC
• Strong communication and collaboration in surgical teams
• Adaptability in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
