Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Einstein Advancement, the Assistant Director of Development will solicit individual donors and prospective donors for leadership gifts to Jefferson Einstein and Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospitals as well as Jefferson Moss Magee Rehabilitation – Elkins Park and its priorities. Fundraising activities include identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Einstein grateful patients, prospects, and donors. The Assistant Director will also support both the Director of Development Montgomery, and Director of Development MossRehab, in portfolio development, donor outreach, and other leadership gift activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Vice President, Einstein Advancement, and the Bruce and Judi Goodman Senior Vice President, Regional Advancement, the Assistant Director will develop a comprehensive understanding of a leadership gifts plan to support the priorities of –Jefferson Einstein and Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospitals, Jefferson Moss Magee Rehabilitation – Elkins Park, and the Jefferson enterprise.
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of leadership gift prospects, maintaining frequent and consistent contact with prospects, department leaders, and key members of Jefferson Einstein’s administrative and clinical leadership. Maintain and manage this portfolio in a manner that fosters a relationship that leads to philanthropic commitment and understanding of a donor’s philanthropic intentions.
  • Responsible for an assigned prospect pool in collaboration with internal stakeholders and for strategy execution and the achievement of defined performance goals:
  • Manage an individual prospect pool of 125 or more
  • Conduct a minimum of 125 Meaningful Donor Encounters per year
  • Generate 2 proposal per month > $2,500 (minimum 24/yr)

Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced study or additional degree is helpful.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-4 years of direct or related fundraising experience, preferably with experience in a complex organization. Healthcare experience is a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Fundraising experience in the area of individual gifts development, annual or corporate and foundation giving is desirable. Familiarity with planned giving concepts is a plus.
  • A successful candidate must be comfortable making a heavy volume of phone calls including cold calling potential prospects.
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both internal and external constituencies. Comfort communicating with and soliciting prospects/benefactors.
  • Ability to articulate, both written and orally, a compelling case for major philanthropic support for clinical programs, presenting objectives persuasively to potential donors.
  • Experience with fundraising databases/CRMs preferred.
  • Possess the ability to work independently, as well as cohesively as a member of the team.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional night and weekend hours. Ability and willingness to travel within the Philadelphia region. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, however the incumbent must be able to travel to campus as needed.
