Our research program is focused on studying the molecular mechanism of a novel RNA decay mechanism “ribothrypsis” and understanding the role of RNA dysregulation in neurodegenerative diseases including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We employ multidisciplinary approaches including molecular biology, RNA biology, biochemical, and advanced next-generation sequencing techniques.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs a variety of technical and analytical laboratory experiments, and other duties as required in the study, and research work following established methods under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Assists in lab management by ordering supplies, preparing reagents, and maintaining lab equipment and inventory.
  • Presents findings of ongoing research at lab meetings and professional meetings.
  • Conducts literature searches and contributes to publication of research.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's required; 2+ years’ experience or Master’s degree; no required experience, in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, neuroscience, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in tissue culture, and molecular, biochemical, or cellular techniques is preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in next-generation sequencing techniques, and/or data analysis will be viewed favorably.
