Locums – Minnesota, Emergency Medicine PA Opening

Clinical Role:

  • Specialty: Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant

  • Start Date: April/May

  • Contract Length: 3 months with ongoing potential

  • Schedule: Monday–Sunday coverage

  • Shift Type: Mid shifts starting at noon

  • Shift Length Options: 8, 9, or 10-hour shifts

  • Coverage Need: 2 FTE providers

Practice Setting:

  • Hospital-based Emergency Department

  • Critical Access Hospital

  • Trauma Level IV designation

  • 7 ED rooms with 2 trauma bays (each capable of accommodating 4 patients)

  • Hospital size: 57 beds

  • EMR systems:

    • EDIS (primary ED system)

    • Medhost

    • Athena (clinic use occasionally)

  • Training available for EMR systems if needed

Patient Volume and Population:

  • 20–30 patients per day

  • Treating all ages from pediatrics to geriatrics

  • Recent newborn care experience in facility (6 babies born in the last 6 months)

Support and Resources:

  • 24-hour MD support onsite or within a 5-minute drive

  • Additional PA onsite during mid shifts

  • Backup specialties available:

    • Family Medicine physician

    • Emergency Medicine physician

    • Telemedicine support including:

      • Cardiology

      • Stroke services

      • Vel Telemedicine

  • Onsite ambulance transfer capability

  • Helipad available for rapid transfer to trauma centers

Procedures and Skills Required:

  • Emergency medicine procedural experience

  • Emergency ultrasound experience required

Requirements:

  • Board Certified Physician Assistant – Required

  • Active Minnesota license – Required

  • DEA – Required

  • BLS – Required

  • ACLS – Required

  • ATLS or CALS – Required

  • PALS and APLS – Preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of Emergency Medicine experience – Required

  • Credentialing timeframe: 60–90 days
