Advanced Practice Provider – Emergency Medicine (NP or PA)
Location: Rochester, MN
Department: Emergency Medicine
Employment Type: Full-Time, permanent position
Setting: Academic, high-acuity emergency department
Position Overview
This position offers the opportunity to practice emergency medicine in a high-volume, Level I trauma environment while working alongside physicians, APPs, and multidisciplinary teams. The role combines autonomy, collaboration, and exposure to both complex academic cases and community-style emergency care.
Practice Environment
* High-volume emergency department with approximately 75,000 patient visits annually
* Level I trauma center with integrated air and ground transport services
* 24/7 coverage model across multiple care areas including:
* Acute care
* Triage
* Behavioral health
* Emergency department observation unit
* Strong academic environment with education and research opportunities
* APP Emergency Medicine Fellowship program supporting professional development
Clinical Responsibilities
* Practice as an independent provider with physician collaboration
* Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, diagnoses, and care planning
* Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
* Prescribe pharmacologic therapies
* Provide patient education and discharge planning
* Perform emergency procedures including:
* Laceration repair
* Incision and drainage
* Lumbar puncture
* Participate in team-based care with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals
Schedule & Coverage
* Shift-based scheduling with 24/7 departmental coverage
* Exposure to a wide range of emergency medicine presentations
* Balanced mix of autonomy and team-based supervision

Qualifications
* Nurse Practitioner
* Graduate of an accredited NP program
* Board certification required
* Eligible for state licensure
* Physician Assistant

* NCCPA certification
