This isn't just any ER position—you'll be working in a government-run facility that provides essential care to a diverse community, all while being surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. With flexible shifts, long-term contracts, and the opportunity to make a significant impact, this role is ideal for experienced emergency physicians looking to combine purpose with the great outdoors.

Blackfeet Community Hospital is looking for long-term contract locum physicians for our Emergency Room in Browning, Montana. This government-owned and operated facility offers both inpatient and outpatient services, with all departments led by board-certified or board-eligible chiefs of staff.

Details:

  • Long-term ER NP/PA contract opportunity, up to 1 year with possible extensions
  • Flexible hours with day, night, and mid shifts available
  • Housing provided
  • Local or travel locum tenens welcome to apply
  • Required emergency room experience as an APP
  • 2 to 3 years of experience preferred
  • Previous locum tenens and IHS facility experience preferred
  • Experience treating both adult and pediatric patients required

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide professional emergency medical services and direct patient care in the ER
  • Evaluate adult and adolescent patients presenting to the emergency department
  • Make preliminary diagnoses, prescribe treatments, and arrange for referrals or specialized care
  • Deliver care to patients with a broad range of medical conditions, often critical or complex
  • Stabilize and transfer major trauma patients (penetrating wounds, TBI, hemorrhage, blunt trauma, etc.)
  • Manage pediatric trauma, psychiatric emergencies, and critical medical conditions such as septic or cardiopulmonary shock
  • Perform advanced airway management, including endotracheal and rapid sequence intubation
  • Collaborate with consultants and provide emergency care on a regular and ongoing basis

Requirements:

  • Active, Unrestricted License — Must hold a current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Montana, any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • Board Certification/Eligibility — Must be Board Certified
  • Certifications — Must have current certifications in:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
  • Citizenship — Must be a U.S. citizen living primarily within the United States.
  • Experience — A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience is required.
  • Credentialing — Must complete all credentialing requirements within 10 days of offer acceptance.
  • Federal Security Clearance — Must be willing and able to complete and pass the federal security clearance process.
