General Summary

Our PAs work under the supervision and direction of our supervising physicians to ensure high quality, safe and timely care for patients with various chief complaints. The PA team manages very sick patients, handles various high acuity procedures, and performs medical screening examinations in order to stabilize and treat those seeking services from the Emergency Room. The PA may assume care for patients of all ages within the scope of their professional practice guidelines and may support all areas of the department including working 10-20% of their scheduled shifts in the Medical Observation Unit where they will be primarily responsible for admission orders, rounding on patients, and for writing daily progress and disposition notes. The PAs also respond to any acute issues that arise during the patients stay, follow up on results, and determine if patients should be admitted or discharged.
