**NP/PA Emergency Medicine opening - Cooperstown, NY** **Position Details** - Full-time, permanent - Hospital employed - Progressive, academic health system in central New York and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University - Group has six Emergency Departments and two Convenient Care locations - Established group of Physicians and Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC). **Three employment tracks:** *Candidate can change tracks as experience is gained or change in schedule is desired.* 1. Combination of Emergency Department and Convenient Care: - Primary responsibilities would include providing care at four emergency departments and two urgent/convenient care clinics. - Employment would be regional such that shifts would be scheduled in locations that are close together with ability to work at all sites. 2. Convenient Care Only: - Evaluate and treat a wide range of non-emergent medical conditions, perform minor procedures (including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage), and interpret ancillary tests (labs, urinalysis, x-ray, EKG). - Care is provided promptly but thoroughly. Practitioners must be able to treat urgent conditions while knowing how to recognize emergencies to refer to a higher level of care. - Practitioners must have prior Emergency Department experience or can transition to this track after working in the combination track. 3. Independent Practice: - Advanced Practice Clinicians who work independently at a Critical Access Hospital ED with attending physician consult as needed in order to assess patients, provide quality care and provide appropriate disposition. - This includes stabilizing patients with any necessary lifesaving procedures including endotracheal intubation, central line or IO placement, surgical cricothyrotomy, chest tube placement, emergent childbirth/ delivery, or medical work ups (with Laboratory testing and result interpretation) and radiology interpretations. - The APC must also be comfortable in transferring patients to appropriate facilities, discharging them home, or admitting them to the critical access hospital. - Practitioners must have a post-graduate fellowship in emergency medicine or prior experience working independently in the emergency department setting. *Previous experience in Emergency Medicine and/or Fast Track/Urgent Care is preferred* **Benefits** - Medical, dental and vision insurance - Paid time off, including vacations and holidays - Life Insurance and disability protections - Paid Malpractice - Retirement Benefits - CME time and money - Moving Allowance **About the Health Network:** - Rural integrated health care system that serves communities through an eight county region, covering 5,600 square miles in Central New York. - The network includes a Primary Hospital that is Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center, a secondary Hospital, and three critical access hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, community and school- based health centers, and health partners in related fields. - This is a safe, vibrant and sophisticated upstate community set in a bucolic lake front village affording four seasons of cultural and outdoor activity.
