**NP/PA Surgical ICU opening - Burlington, MA**
Located 16m to Boston
**Position Details**
- Full-time, permanent
- Per diem also available
- 24-bed ICU under the direction and supervision of an Intensivist providing critical care to Surgical patients (including Cardio-thoracic surgery patients), and occasionally MICU patients.
- Seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join an established PA and NP team that works in a multidisciplinary unit alongside Surgery and Anesthesia residents.
- Cardio-thoracic includes: aortic reconstruction, CABG, valves, TAVR/TEVAR, esophagus and some complex thoracic cases. Low volume of ECMO and ventricular assist devices
- SICU patients include trauma (level I trauma center), liver transplants, colorectal, GYN, ENT, Ortho and other surgical services.
- Occasional Neuro and MICU overflow patients
- Assist with management of PACU patients who are critically ill and triage to SICU when appropriate
- Assist with inpatient anesthesia pre-operative assessments and consents
**Responsibilities**
- Daily rounding
- Management of fluids
- Vasopressors and inotropes
- Arterial line and central line placement
- Chest tube management
- Management and interpretation of invasive monitoring and treatment devices (such as Swan-Ganz, temporary pacemakers, and IABPs)
- Interpretation of labs and imaging studies
**Requirements**
- Preferably have 2 years of experience in a SICU or cardiothoracic surgical service.
- Additional training will be provided for experienced critical care providers who have never or not recently taken care of specific patient types (i.e. cardiothoracic, transplant or trauma).
